What to Do When You Can't Find a Book

Help!  I need a book not owned by the library.

If you find a citation for a book that the library does not own, you have options to get that book.  The Egan Library is part of a network of 20 Alaskan libraries (JLC Consortium) and the collections of those libraries are available to you via the library catalog.  You can have items sent from those libraries by placing a hold.  Items will arrive at the Egan Library within 2-7 days.   If you can't locate the item in the library catalog working with a librarian can help save you both time and money.

1.  Ask a librarian for help.

2.  Search for the "Title" of a book in WorldCAT.  WorldCAT shows you which  libraries own a book.

3.  Interlibrary Loan -  we can order a book (or chapter or article) for you from another library.  Turn around time may be 7 - 10 days, so it's good to start researching early.
