What is a citation alert?

Citation alerts allow you to see when other authors are citing your work.

You can choose any article and be alerted when it gets cited!

This is useful to help understand the scholarly discourse on your topic.

JSTOR
Allows you to "track citation". The database will then alert you when your source has been cited. Must be signed in to MyJSTOR in order to use this tool. You may also search for "items citing this item" in some cases.
ScienceDirect
When viewing an article, on the right side of the screen has the option citing articles (and number in parentheses).

Older more established articles will have more citing works than a newly published article. Additionally, more popular (or sometimes controversial articles) will be cited more than those articles with less "impact".
Google Scholar
Set up citation alerts to be sent to your email whenever an article cites your original source.
