Properly citing sources is the key to avoiding plagiarism. Your professor will dictate the appropriate style guidelines/manual that you should use to format your paper, footnotes, and bibliography. It may be APA (American Psychological Association), or ASA (the American Sociological Association) or another style in other classes. These web pages show you how to use the two preferred by your professor.
