Here are some highlights on each of the featured tools:

Zotero

  • free tool used as a Firefox browser plugin, really handy to add websites and articles anytime
  • easily add citations from most library databases to your Zotero Library (use "Export in RIS format")
  • tag and attach notes to any citations
  • Zotero features a Microsoft Word plugin, making integration with writing and citing your papers a cinch.

Mendeley

  • you can create a free account
  • works with your platform, there is an app download option
  • you can build a personal Mendeley Library
  • collate notes from different articles you review
  • Mendeley cite is a plugin for Microsoft Word, making citing in text an option
