Why might you be looking at the news? Maybe you're looking for a specific issue, or maybe you're researching the history of advertising, or maybe you just want to catch up on the latest news. There are a lot of reasons you might turn to the news, and this guide is designed to help you get started finding resources available at the Egan Library and online!

Information Literacy

One of the expected outcomes of an education at UAS is Information Literacy. There are five skills listed:

  1. Identify needed information.
  2. Locate and access the information.
  3. Analyze and evaluate the content.
  4. Integrate and communicate the information.
  5. Evaluate the product and the process.

You may not be doing research your whole life, but you will be dealing with the news your whole life. In using this guide and reading the news, be thinking about sources for news, points of view, and bias.
