OER 101 Now Available!  

This self-paced, introductory course will help UAS faculty increase awareness of open educational resources (OER) and open licensing. Upon completion participants will be able to:

  • Gain fluency in defining open education, including its core benefits, challenges, and potential.

  • Differentiate the concepts of open licensing, public domain, and all rights reserved copyrights.

  • Find open educational resources and properly attribute a work offered under a Creative Commons license.

Creative Commons for Educators and Librarians

Creative Commons Certificate Program

The Educators and Academic Librarians courses are quite similar, though they differ in the final unit of content, as well as the community discussions. This is a facilitated, fee-based, online training is offered 3 times a year. 

  • Certificate courses are run as asynchronous, online trainings, with options for synchronous discussions. The participant to facilitator ratio of approximately 25:1. Participants must receive a 90% or higher grade to graduate.
  • Academic librarians will develop comprehensive knowledge in open education and open access. They will also gain access to a global community of librarians working on similar open access goals.
  • Educators will develop comprehensive knowledge of open education including open educational resources (OER) and open pedagogy. They will also gain access to a global community of educators working toward similar open education goals.

Creative Commons Certificate Resources (Open Access)

Additionally the certificate curriculum is open access and available for independent study. Accessing this CC BY content is not a substitute for enrolling in the official course, and does not qualify you for CC Certification.  While anyone can download, reuse, revise, remix and redistribute this content for any purpose, only Creative Commons may issue “CC Certificates.”
